The University of Northern British Columbia is seeking a full time, on-site manager for the Quesnel River Research Centre which is located in Likely, British Columbia.  We seek an individual with strong personal and leadership skills to work with our academic researchers and community partners and to facilitate the development of a strong community-based research and monitoring program along with a leading watershed ecology research program.  This is a unique opportunity for an individual who has the desire to help develop a strong and vibrant research station in a resource-rich, active community in the central interior of British Columbia.  

Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Dean of the College of Science and Management (UNBC, Prince George campus), and working closely with the QRRC Advisory Committee and academic researchers, the Manager will enable the vision of the QRRC to be an international leader in watershed ecology research and learning by:

  • Creating an active culture of communication, knowledge transfer and outreach to highlight the scientific and social importance of QRRC programs and research
  • Establishing research projects linking the community and the Centre
  • Facilitating the development of research programs which link UNBC faculty, visiting researchers, students and the community
  • Facilitating the development and supporting the delivery of credit field courses based out of the Centre
  • Pursuing grants and innovative funding opportunities to support research and outreach
  • Developing and maintaining monitoring programs
  • Building beneficial partnerships to link science to the community
  • Ensuring the safe, effective operation of the facility

Qualifications:
Advanced Degree (PhD preferred) in a related science with a diversity of experience in scientific research, teaching, administration and development, typically obtained through five or more years of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
